George Carson Waters
December 31, 1936 - November 13, 2015
George Carson Waters, 78 of Peachtree City, formerly of Savannah, Georgia went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, on November 13, 2015. He was born on December 31, 1936 and raised in Savannah, Georgia, the city he loved. He graduated from Commercial High School in 1956 and also graduated from St. Leo College. Afterwards, he proudly served in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he met and married the love of his life, Rita Bartley. They enjoyed a long, happy marriage of 55 years and had two beautiful children.
He was a dedicated civil servant for many years at Hunter Army Airfield and also a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.
He loved the salt air and delighted in being on the water, boating with his family. He also enjoyed many Intracoastal Waterway boat trips with his brothers. Always a smile on his face despite any adversity, he was a very kind, generous gentleman of a man who loved his family deeply. He was known for having a keen sense of humor.
George enjoyed his membership with the Elks Club for many years and was a member of American Legion Post 184. He was also volunteer fireman, with his son and daughter, at Montgomery Fire station while living on Burnside Island in Savannah.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Carson Waters, brothers Robert Edward Waters and Thomas Julian Waters and his parents, Edwin Henry Waters and Dorothy Crawford Waters.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Rita Bartley Waters; daughter, Susan Waters Adcox and her husband Dr. Bill Adcox; five grandchildren, Alex, Andrew, Mary Katherine, Matthew Adcox and Carson Waters; sister Evelyn French (Norman); brother Doty Waters (Nita); sister-in- laws Ouida Waters and Cecile Waters. He is fondly remembered by a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
